What’s in your hospital bag?

I love me a good list! So let’s talk about the things I absolutely couldn’t live without after delivering my babies! I have also attached links to Amazon for products I found extremely helpful.

It may feel like it, but you’re not moving in!! Pack light.

1. Comfy open front jammies

I hate those hospital gowns. They never fit. Who are they intended for? And the connect the dots snap that run up the sleeve? Hate it! So my comfy open front night shirt was an absolute must.

2. Shower shoes

Self explanatory. Not everyone’s clean matches your clean. So I couldn’t imagine raw toeing the shower floor during my stay.

3. Toiletries

I need my face products and bath soaps. The hospital soap is a centimeter thick and 2 inches long… again, who it intended for? I would need a handful to wash myself.

4. Diaper cream

If you would like to use it for preventative measures on your newborn due to frequent stools, bring your own. The hospital won’t provide it unless there’s a medical necessity.

5. Nail file for baby

For whatever reason, they’re born with razor sharp little blades for nails. The hospital shirts have little flip over for the hands but they’re so big that sometimes you have to roll the sleeve down. So definitely don’t forget the nail file.

6. Baby’s going home outfit

Yes…. That’s all. No need for all the other fits. The nurse will be so busy taking them off and on and off and on again and again. And sometimes baby spits up or gags frequently due to some leftover amniotic fluid. So save your detergent and space in your bag for all the goodies the hospital gives.

7. Nursing bra or nursing tank top

In addition to the comfy jammies, I recommend bring at least two nursing bras or nursing tanks with you. They support the boobies and keep you covered while providing easy access for breastfeeding your newborn.

8. Portable fan

With all the hormones surging through your body, you will be the hottest person in the room. This fan was a lifesaver during and after labor.

9. Device chargers

Because… duh!

10. Snacks

Hospital food is notoriously blah. If you like it, sorry, not sorry. But plenty of healthy and maybe not so healthy snacks. Hey,you just had a baby. Live a little.

Please keep in mind, this list is not inclusive. I just found these as necessities. My first time, I over packed and used a fraction of these items because the hospital provides a lot of helpful items that’s you’ll get to take home. Save yourself the hassle.

I’m interested to know, what did you have in your bag? Anything you think I forgot? Until next time….
