Things I used to save me from postpartum shedding!

First, check in with your OBGYN or primary care practitioner. Now that I got out of that of that way. We can really talk about postpartum hair loss. The hair loss is caused by hormone fluctuations as the body is trying to get back to homeostasis. Pregnancy is a stressful event on the body and it’s recommended that you continue your prenatal post delivery. But, of course, I stopped them abruptly.

I had beautiful locs before the birth of my son. I LOVED THEM! But as my hair began to change with pregnancy, I saw thinning. I was definitely in denial…. But they continued to change. After delivery, I found a loc in the bed! I made an appointment the very best day to cut my locs.

So you know what I did next… researched! And this is what I found…

I needed to replenish the vitamins lost during child birth. Although there is no specific list of vitamins to restore hair, the biotin and other B vitamins will help. I should have continued to take my prenatals. After my last pregnancy I started taking a prenatal and postnatal vitamins. Check out the link below.

I started using HairFinity supplements to prevent hair loss too. I used these in the past to grow my hair bra length. They truly worked wonders. I also placed the link below.

I also found that zinc and iron helped with the hair loss. There’s some in both the multivitamins I suggested above and in the food we eat. But here are the links if you want to take them separately.

I used vitamin E oil in my scalp every 2-3 days. And you know I have the link of what I used. Over the next few months, I not only retained my hair but even grew some! My hair had more shine and volume.

This go around, I also increased my intake of green leafy vegetables like kales and spinach. Not only for hair growth and retention, but overall health, I started eating a diet of more Whole Foods. My hair didn’t fall out!

Now I’m not saying that taking these two supplements and changing your diet will work 100% but I worked for me. Talk to your PCP bore, but I urge you to try it and let me know how you make out!
